Importance and Introduction of Surah Al-Lail
Surah Al-Lail is the 92nd Surah of the Quran, included in the Meccan Surahs and has 21 verses. This Surah was revealed when the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was in the early stages of his prophethood. In Surah Al-Lail, Allah swears by the night and the day, symbolising the contrasting aspects of creation. This Surah emphasises the actions of man and their consequences. Allah Almighty indicates two paths to man: one leads to ease and success, while the other leads to difficulties and destruction. The main message of this Surah is that whatever action a man does, he will get the result in the Hereafter.

*IN THE NAME OF ALLAH, THE BENEFICENT, THE MERCIFUL*
By the night enshrouding﴾1﴿ And the day resplendent﴾2﴿ And Him Who hath created male and female,﴾3﴿ Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends).﴾4﴿ As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah)﴾5﴿ And believeth in goodness;﴾6﴿ Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease.﴾7﴿ But as for him who hoarded and deemeth himself independent,﴾8﴿ And disbelieves in goodness;﴾9﴿ Surely We will ease his way unto adversity.﴾10﴿ His riches will not save him when he perisheth.﴾11﴿ Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance﴾12﴿ And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former.﴾13﴿ Therefore have I warned you of the flaming Fire﴾14﴿ Which only the most wretched must endure,﴾15﴿ He who denieth and turneth away.﴾16﴿ Far removed from it will be the righteous﴾17﴿ Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness).﴾18﴿ And none hath with him any favour for reward,﴾19﴿ Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High.﴾20﴿ He verily will be content.﴾21﴿

(1)
रात की क़सम जब (सूरज को) छिपा ले
(2)
और दिन की क़सम जब ख़ूब रौशन हो
(3)
और उस (ज़ात) की जिसने नर व मादा को पैदा किया
(4)
कि बेशक तुम्हारी कोशिश तरह तरह की है
(5)
तो जिसने सख़ावत की और अच्छी बात (इस्लाम) की तस्दीक़ की
(6)
तो हम उसके लिए राहत व आसानी
(7)
(जन्नत) के असबाब मुहय्या कर देंगे
(8)
और जिसने बुख्ल किया, और बेपरवाई की
(9)
और अच्छी बात को झुठलाया
(10)
तो हम उसे सख्ती (जहन्नुम) में पहुँचा देंगे,
(11)
और जब वह हलाक होगा तो उसका माल उसके कुछ भी काम न आएगा
(12)
हमें राह दिखा देना ज़रूर है
(13)
और आख़ेरत और दुनिया (दोनों) ख़ास हमारी चीज़े हैं
(14)
तो हमने तुम्हें भड़कती हुई आग से डरा दिया
(15)
उसमें बस वही दाख़िल होगा जो बड़ा बदबख्त है
(16)
जिसने झुठलाया और मुँह फेर लिया और जो बड़ा परहेज़गार है
(17)
वह उससे बचा लिया जाएगा
(18)
जो अपना माल (ख़ुदा की राह) में देता है ताकि पाक हो जाए
(19)
और लुत्फ ये है कि किसी का उस पर कोई एहसान नहीं जिसका उसे बदला दिया जाता है
(20)
बल्कि (वह तो) सिर्फ अपने आलीशान परवरदिगार की ख़ुशनूदी हासिल करने के लिए (देता है)
(21)
और वह अनक़रीब भी ख़ुश हो जाएगा
